I was walking the dog earlier and suddenly realised this is my 20th year of working in the Park Gate area.

I started thinking back about how things have changed and came over all nostalgic.

I must say I really miss the buzz of Thursdays when the Property papers came out and all the new enquiries came in, no keen sales negotiator would take a Thursday off!

I miss the man in the little van who used to come and collect the camera films even though we’d then have to wait two days to get the proofs back to see whether the photos we’d taken were any good. We then had to order the prints we wanted, which were sticky backed to stick onto the details and a special dotty one that photocopied okay.

I miss driving around the area with my Dictaphone counting for sale boards to see what market share we had and what had gone on the market with our competitors.

I miss my box of applicant cards with all my hand-written notes, and special ‘hot’ applicants at the front.

I miss my last minute dash to the Echo office with copy for the following week’s paper, half of which would be sold or off market by the time the advert came out.

I miss a clear desk with no computer to distract me, no Facebook or Twitter or even Rightmove!

But whilst so much has changed, and I do love all the new technology at our fingertips, there really is nothing to replace the reward of seeing a buyer pick up the keys for their new home or a seller’s joy when we wish them well on their new adventure.

Ta ta for now
