Reverse Advent - help us support our local foodbank
We will be helping our friends at the Meon Valley Foodbank again this year with the reverse advent calendar collection.
Reverse advent calendars work by you popping in an item every day, e.g. items of food, toiletries or clothing, that can then be taken to a local food bank or charity in order to help those less fortunate that may be struggling at Christmas time.
The most useful items are ones that have a long shelf life, such as tinned and dried foods.
After collecting items through December, you can bring everything you’ve saved into us and we will make sure that it gets to the food bank in time for Christmas and you’ll know that you’ve given a gift to someone that really needs it.
Not only is this a fun thing for the whole family to do together, from creating the advent calendar structure itself to picking the goodies to go in it, it also teaches children the importance of helping others and seeing the bigger picture at Christmas time.
You could also do it as a group, perhaps rally your colleagues at work to all contribute. We have our own team RR basket on the go already.
So next time you’re shopping please pop an extra can or packet in your basket.
The final date for dropping your collections to us before Christmas is Saturday 16th December so that we have time to deliver them to the food bank.
Thanks in advance
